So who the hell am I? Well, I’m a thirty-something white guy who works in technology trying to make sense of this topsy-turvy world. Am I interesting? Not particularly, I wouldn’t think. Occasionally I can be amusing or insightful or just plain odd, but that depends on the subject.
I’ll snag an idea that I’ve seen elsewhere and give you 12 random facts about me:
1. I grew up in Plymouth, MA. “America’s Hometown”
2. I wasn’t aware until I was around 7 or 8 that I’m directly descended from several of the Pilgrims who came over on the Mayflower. In 1620. Remember? History? Right…
3. I used to love carrots as a kid, and ate them with almost every meal. In fact, I loved carrots so much that at one point for Halloween I went as a carrot, complete with a homemade costume (with green leafy tuft) and a “No Rabbits” sign drawn by my brother, featuring the character of Rabbit from the Winnie the Pooh stories.
4. I’ve been using computers, both PCs and Apples, since I was 6 years old. I did take some computer classes here and there and even started (but never completed) a degree in Computer Science, but I’m largely self-taught.
5. I’m the youngest among my siblings, 2 older brothers.
6. I like to travel, though I haven’t gone anywhere exciting in a while. I have been to Europe a couple times in the past.
7. I tend to get shy in new social situations, but once I get to know people for a bit I open up a lot more. If I’m your friend, it takes a lot to get me pissed off at you.
8. I like Italian food a lot.
9. I don’t smoke, I do drink occasionally, I don’t do drugs.
10. I enjoy music quite a bit, and movies. I also enjoy bike riding, reading, and fooling around with my acoustic guitar. I can’t really play it, but it’s nice to pretend.
11. I’m not ashamed to go to the movie theater by myself.
12. I’m afraid of heights to some degree.
